It is one of the largest wooden domes in Japan, and was opened on April 29, 1992 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Izumo City.
It is also used for various sports event exhibitions, ceremonies, concerts (Izumo Dome 2000 people brass band, etc.), professional wrestling performances, etc.
