‘Nada in Chacho’ of introduction!

Nada in Chacho

During the Edo period, Chamachi, surrounded by Lake Shinji and the Kyobashi River flowing north of it, was a merchant town known as ‘Machiya’.
Boat paths were built on the south and north sides of the Ohashi River, and the area was crowded with Kitamae-bune boats and goods unloaded from various places via the boat paths, and lined with shops and storehouses.
Until a period after the war, flat-bottomed river boats called ‘kake-dashi’ would land at a small pier and bring raw materials to the warehouses of sake brewers and soy sauce makers.
This area was originally the ‘Nada’, a waterfront area on Lake Shinji, where children could enjoy catching fish and swimming in all four seasons, and was an ideal playground for children.
In 1972, with the completion of the Lake Shinji Bridge, the area was reclaimed and became the present riverbed park.
