Matsue’s secret tea room

Matsue’s hidden tea room (2nd floor back of our store [not open to the public])

Although it is not normally set up as a tea room, it can be transformed into a tea room by changing the setting a little.
During the reign of Matsudaira Harusato (Fumaiko) of the Matsue domain, the tea ceremony became very popular. However, a frugal ordinance later prohibits the townspeople from setting up a tea room.
This hidden tea room also offers a glimpse of the ingenuity of enthusiasts who overcame the thrifty ordinance.
